Ecosmic is bringing microservices to space. Our first software solution SAFE helps satellite operators gain insights on the risk of collision for their assets.

We are a high-tech, data-driven company with an international team of space engineers and computer scientists. Founded in 2023 in the Netherlands, we opened our Italian HQ and raised €1.1M earlier this year and we are now growing fast. We are now looking for a driven Data Engineer to help us achieve this goal. This position is remote. Candidates must be based in Italy or willing to relocate..

What You’ll Do

Data Manipulation (65%)

  • Design and develop interfaces with several space data providers,

  • Build proper data models and storage solutions, data cleaning and processing pipelines.

  • Contribute to defining the team's best practices and implement novel techniques for building data pipelines.

Product Improvement (25%)

  • Query and analyse data about product usage (beta-testing programme).

  • Create reports, explain your findings and discuss their implications with team members.

Product Roadmap Strategy (10%)

  • Collaborate with the business team to determine what are the most pressing problems to solve and how to uncover those insights.

  • Screen the market to find relevant data and identify trends to provide market intelligence insights.

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to support various business initiatives.

Who You Are

  • You are proficient in English.

  • You have a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or equivalent.

  • You have strong analytical skills and a strong understanding of statistical analysis.

  • You care about agile software processes and data-driven development.

  • You are capable of using meaningful metrics and present complex data insights in a clear and concise manner.

  • You have strong Python programming abilities. You might have worked with cloud technologies in the past.

  • You are proactive and capable of finding solutions on your own. You are able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • You have deep interpersonal skills to build on relationships that are characterised by a high degree of transparency and trust.

Bonus points if:

  • You have knowledge about FaaS, ETL pipelines with cloud functions, and the costs associated to on-demand cloud services.

  • You have knowledge about/strong interest for the space industry.

  • Competitive pay: the estimated salary range for this position is €32,000 - €35,000/year. Discover more about the cost of living in Turin and about Italian taxation. The total compensation for this position will be determined by each individual’s relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills. As you increase your impact in Ecosmic, compensation can grow rapidly. On top of the salary, we also include €1,000/year (net) of welfare.
